A Day in the Life at Stone Road Farms
Welcome! We are delighted to give you an inside look at the heart of Stone Road, our farm!
Purchased in 2016, the farm is the heart and soul of our small company.
Originally all of our flower was sourced from the farm but when regulations changed in July 2018, we had to build out a network of partner farms while we worked hard to get fully licensed. While it took well over a year and thousands of hours working with the local county we are beyond grateful to say — our farm is 100% licensed, compliant, and ready to roll!!!
THE DEETS -
The farm is completely off-grid and 100% solar powered. We are nestled in between old-growth Oak groves and huge mineral deposits. Even cooler — near the main stream we have discovered Native American grinding holes where the indigenous population used to grind and blend acorns into meel for their bread. Needless to say the farm is pretty damn magical!
There are a few reasons why we’re so proud of our farm and grow team. First off, the farm is 57 acres yet we only grow on 10,000 sqft.
We prefer to protect our natural environment and preserve the local ecosystem. If we grew in a more populated setting it would be impossible to cultivate the way nature intended.
WHERE IS THE FARM?
When we started back in 2016, we were pretty selective about where we wanted to grow our plants. For the most potent product, we knew that the elevation and climate had to be high and dry — just like us 😎
Our farm is located in Nevada City, CA — population 3,142 and elevation over 2477. The elevation gives us the perfect variance of temperature swings, for the most potent and delicious cannabinoid profiles. Throw in a 660’ deep artesian well with living microbial water that gives our plants the perfect pH level of 6.4 — it’s safe to say that our plants absolutely thrive here!
OUR INVOLVEMENT
As a consumer, you might be curious to know who actually works on our farm.
Allow us to give you a little intro to our team!
Meet Blake!
He’s our head farmer. He’s not only our grow expert but also the head of all day to day operations.
Blake’s passion for organic farming is a huge reason that we can provide you with the joints you know and love. He is originally from Ohio and moved to CA to work for Stone Road in early 2017. Since then he has climbed up the ladder to become the farm boss! He lives on the farm with his 3 dogs — Tuna, Mahi, and Akilah.
As you can imagine, running a 57-acre farm is quite the responsibility. Blake runs our day to day operations, but it can’t be done alone! We have an amazing team of locals who help out during the hectic planting and harvest seasons.
Now that you know what goes on at the farm, it’s time to meet our founder and CEO, Lex!
With an extensive background in organic agriculture, Lex and Blake make a pretty powerful duo. Unlike most CEOs, Lex finds himself running back and forth from the office to the farm pretty frequently. In high school, he lived on an organic, off-grid farm in Vermont for five months. Hence his passion for growing and developing the most beautiful joints in the world today!
Blake grows the plant in small batches and hands it off to Lex, who then turns our cannabis into our beautiful joints.
Since we can’t physically bring you with us (as much as we’d love your company), imagine yourself stepping onto our secluded farm high in The Sierra Nevadas.
Filled with the finest cannabis in the world that’s grown 100% organically — we thank you for your support of our family owned company and hope you enjoy our products as much as we do.
Love,
The Stone Road Fam
